what is ocean acidification?
ocean acidification is the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, causing a major decrease of the oceans' pH levels. this makes it extremely difficult for marine organisms like coral to produce their skeletons and results in coral bleaching.

save energy! use energy efficient light bulbs • reduce, reuse, recycle! plastic waste affects the ocean’s pH level making it more acidic • practice safe boating! avoid anchoring near reefs • avoid any sunscreen containing the chemical “oxybenzone” • dive responsibly! don’t touch the reefs • avoid harmful fertilizers • volunteer • spread the word!
